Create An Adsense Privacy Policy For Your Blog/Website

Posted by Rahil Monday, December 13, 2010 0 comments

adsense
Read This Important Part Of Google's New Adsense Terms And Conditions:
“You must have and abide by an appropriate privacy policy that clearly discloses that third parties may be placing and reading cookies on your user’s browser, or using web beacons to collect information, in the course of ads being served on your website. Your privacy policy should also include information about user options for cookie management.”

According to this condition, All new or existing adsense publishers must have a privacy policy for their blog/website.
You can easily create an adsense privacy policy with the help of an online adsense privacy policy generator powered by SERPRank.
I've already created a privacy policy, You can see it here.

How to Configure Adsense For feeds?

Posted by Rahil Friday, November 12, 2010 0 comments

When we talk about monetization of blog feeds adsense is certainly not the best way. But again it varies from Niche to niche. For a domain like CallingAllGeeks which is a technology blog, adsense for feeds is a good way to monetize RSS feeds.
In this post I will be helping you on how to add adsense for feeds into your blog rss feeds.
To get started with this, login to your adsense account and click on Adsense Setup> Adsense for feeds.

If you are using the same email address for Feedburner and adsense, you will see list of your feed account else click on move feed burner feed to your Google account. (Bottom).
Once done Set the ad configuration and select your feed which you want to integrate with adsense.

Don’t forget to select new custom channel and add details to make your feed ads targetable. Add important info like who are going to read your feeds and what do you write about.
Click on save and within 10 minutes your adsense for feed will be live. Make sure you monetize your feeds only when you have good number of RSS subscriber, else earning with your RSS feed will be negligible.
Do let us know if you RSS feeds to monetize your blog or you don’t do anything with your RSS feeds?

If you trawl through the AdSense message boards you can’t help but come across tales of woe from Adsense Publishers that have had their account banned by Google.
Below is a list of ways people have been banned from AdSense and information on how to avoid it happening to you.
Don’t click on your own ads
The obvious one but still people do it. Google has the IP address of the computer/s that you’ve used to create and check your AdSense account. If it sees that this IP address clicks one of your ads you’re in trouble.
Don’t do it. It’s theft. Not from Google but from the AdWords advertisers.

If you want to go to a site advertised by one of your ads don’t click on it look at the URL of the advertising site at the bottom of the ad and type it into your browser.
If you click on one accidentally (which does happen) you’re probably be ok but it’s worth dropping a quick email to Google with an explanation and apology
Don’t log in to AdSense from a shared computer.
As I said above Google keeps a record of every machine IP address used to look at youraccount. If you check your stats on a machine then someone else clicks on your ads from the same machine Google sees this as click fraud. Worth bearing in mind when thinking of checking your stats from somewhere like an Internet Café.
Don’t log in to your AdSense account from work.
Apart from getting in trouble with the company that employs you there’s also a further real risk. Most companies use a proxy server to access the Internet. A proxy server with ONE IP ADDRESS. Therefore you checking your ads from work means this proxy IP address being recorded by Google as one that you use. Problem is if there are 1000 people in your company it is the same IP address for them too. Google can’t differentiate between you and the other 999 employees in your company. If one of these 999 clicks on one of your ads it’s ban time.
Don’t get into a ‘I’ll click your ads if you click mine’ agreement with another Webmaster.
As above Google will have your IP address and that of every AdSense publisher. If they see these IP addresses consistently clicking on each other ads it’s goodbye for both of you.
Don’t tell friends and family
Telling friends and family about your money making websites can lead to problems. Even if you tell them not to click on your ads there’s always the chance that Auntie Maud will think it’s a good idea to make some extra money for her favourite nephew. 100 clicks later from the same visitor and your account is screaming ‘Click Fraud’.
Receiving clicks from illegal traffic
Check the AdSense TOS for sources of traffic that aren’t allowed by Google. These include methods like Traffic exchange, PTC advertising, Auto surf etc.
Do monitor your visitor and AdSense figures
Check your account at least once a day. If you see a massive spike coupled with a massive increase in Page CTR investigate using your visitor stats website. If you see it’s all come from the same IP address you could have been the victim of a malicious attack – inform Google via email and offer them access to your logs.

First generate the script for your Ad unit, link unit or searchbar in your AdSense Account. Then sign into Blogger Dashboard, select the blog and click LAYOUT. See screenshot below. Click to enlarge:

Add AdSense ad unit, link unit, searchbar, etc. to the blog Header

In the pop-up, select HTML/Javascript, and paste your script there. Then click "Add to blog". If the Page Element is not in the place you want, hover your mouse over the Page Element, drag and drop to whereever you want it.

If you want another page element to contain, for example the link unit, just repeat the process.

BTW, you can actually incorporate both scripts into the same HTML/Javasscript Page Element if you wish.

Bloggers who have Google AdSense units set to display in their blogs often complained about missing AdSense units. I will use this blog to explain.

I have set the following AdSense units to display in this blog with the number of AdSense units in bracket):

  1. wide skyscraper unit in the left column (1 unit)
  2. leaderboard unit in the footer (1 unit)
  3. large rectangle in between posts (6 in the main page but only 1 in the individual post page)
Note: There should be 6 ad units in the main page or homepage) because I have set the number of posts to display in the main page to be 7 (the default).

Now in you count the total number of ad units, you will get a total of 8 ad units (1+1+6) in the main page but only 3 in theindividual post page (permalink).

Google AdSense only allows a total of 3 AdSense ad units in any page and so in the main page, the extra 5 ad units get suppressed and you only see 1 wide skyscraper unit in the left column, 1 between the first and second post and 1 between the second and third post giving a total of three.

However, in the individual post page (permalink), there is only 1 ad unit immediately after the only post, 1 in the left sidebar and 1 in the footer giving a total of 3 (allowed) units with none suppressed.

Now if you have set AdSense units to display between posts and you don't want any ad units to be suppressed and you have similar settings for the AdSense units, all you need to do is to set the number of posts to display in the main page to 1 and only 1.

If you’re using Blogger.com (or BlogSpot.com) blogging service, and use the new template system to add a Google AdSense page element block to your blog, you will notice that there is additional line in the ad unit appended to the JavaScript when you viewing the HTML webpage source code. The extra line of ad code is google_ad_host, which locates directly below google_ad_client which represents user’s publisher ID.

google_ad_client=”pub-245623654969626″;
google_ad_host=”pub-1556223355139109″;

There is speculation that google_ad_host is the publisher ID of Google’s Blogger that will take a cut of advertising revenue share from displayed ads impressions and clicks. Thus, there are bloggers at DigitalPoint forums who accused that blogger commits cheating or stealing as the service agreement or terms does not specify that any possible revenue sharing by using the AdSense widget.
In actual, the part that google_ad_host is used for revenue sharing is true. But rumor that Blogger is taking a part of ads revenue earned is simply invalid, correct at least up to the time of publishing. Case study on Blogger confirms that it’s using Google AdSense API to provide the AdSense snippet on users’ blogs. Google AdSense API features a Revenue Share Program where developer can keep a percentage of revenue between 0% to 75% include from publishers’ earnings. But nothing to worry about reduced earning for publishers using Blogger service yet, as Blogger is taking 0% from you – that’s right, 100% of ads money generated from your impressions and clicks belong to you (less Google share, which you have no control anyway).
How to prove that Blogger is not stealing your money? Simply login to your Google AdSense account, then go to My Account tab, and click on Account Access link. You can see all third party service (such as Blogger) that you granted access as host to your AdSense ad code and reports in order to provide you with AdSense account management through their site. From here, you see that the Revenue Share Rate for Blogger site is 0%. From the FAQ, Google AdSense API also states that you will receive an notification email if there’s any change to revenue share percentage rate, and third party services are also required to clearly display to your publishers the revenue share that you retain as well.
If you still worry about loss of revenue, simply click on disable access link, and then use HTML/JavaScript to replace AdSense widget, as shown in thisworkaround to add custom channel to AdSense in Blogger widget.

If you want to put Adsense ads in the middle of Blogger posts follow the steps below.
1.Generate Parsed code for your adsense code because we cannot put adsense code directly in the xml.So parse it usingAdParser.

var obj1=document.getElementById("aim2<data:post.id/>");
var s=obj1.innerHTML;
var r=s.search(/\x3C!-- adsense --\x3E/igm);
if(r>0) {obj0.innerHTML=s.substr(0,r);obj1.innerHTML=s.substr(r+16);}

What is Google Adsense Section targeting? Here is the official information on Adsense Help Center:

  • Section targeting allows you to suggest sections of your text and HTML content that you'd like us to emphasize or downplay when matching ads to your site's content. By providing us with your suggestions, you can assist us in improving your ad targeting. We recommend that only those familiar with HTML attempt to implement section targeting.
  • To implement section targeting, you'll need to add a set of special HTML comment tags to your code. These tags will mark the beginning and end of whichever section(s) you'd like to emphasize or de-emphasize for ad targeting.
  • The HTML tags to emphasize a page section take the following format:
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

YOUR PAGE CONTENT

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Now, how can you implement Adsense Section Targeting on New Blogger? If you want to get relevant ads, applying Adsense Section Targeting to your blog use above the code before and after post titles and post content.

Follow these steps to do it.

1.Log in to your dashboard--> layout- -> Edit HTML

2.Click on "Expand Widget Templates"

3.Scroll down to where you see this:

<b:includable id='post' var='post'>
<div class='post uncustomized-post-template'>
<a expr:name='data:post.id'/>
<b:if cond='data:post.title'>
<h3 class='post-title'>
<b:if cond='data:post.link'>
<a expr:href='data:post.link'><data:post.title/></a>
<b:else/>
<b:if cond='data:post.url'>
<a expr:href='data:post.url'><data:post.title/></a>
<b:else/>
<data:post.title/>
</b:if>
</b:if>
</h3>
</b:if>

4.Now replace above code with below code.

<b:includable id='post' var='post'>
<div class='post uncustomized-post-template'>
<a expr:name='data:post.id'/>
<b:if cond='data:post.title'>
<h3 class='post-title'>
<b:if cond='data:post.link'>
<a expr:href='data:post.link'><!-- google_ad_section_start --><data:post.title/><!-- google_ad_section_end --></a>
<b:else/>
<b:if cond='data:post.url'>
<a expr:href='data:post.url'><!-- google_ad_section_start --><data:post.title/><!-- google_ad_section_end --></a>
<b:else/>
<!-- google_ad_section_start --><data:post.title/><!-- google_ad_section_end -->
</b:if>
</b:if>
</h3>
</b:if>

5.Now again scroll down to where you see this:

<data:post.body/>

6.Now replace above code with below code.

7.Now save your template and you are done.

This will explain how to Embedd adsense ads in between posts body.
1.Generate Parsed code for adsense code because we cannot put adsense code directly in the xml.So parse it usingAdParser.

center" with "left" or "right" for desired alignment.

This trick surprisingly increased my earnings 4 times from last few days! I have modified myblog code to put adsense ads between post title and post body!
Well this kind of ad placement will surely result in higher payout! But I’m demonstrating how to do that for blogger beta only! You can apply similar hack for other blogging platform!Google for help… ;-)

#Steps for placing ads in every post!1. Log in to your blogger beta account!
2. From your dashboard, click on “Layout”3. Next click “Edit HTML”4. Now Check “Expand Widget Templates” (by default it is unchecked)
5. Now search for post.body in codes. (Better use your browsers built-in SEARCH FEATURE)
6. By default it should appear in your layout code only for once and you should reach the line…

<p><data:post.body></data:post.body></p>

7. Now if you want to put your adsense codes between post title and post body paste it above the line you found in step 6 or below the line to show ads after posts!
8. Wait its not over yet! You have to modify adsense codes a little-bit. But don’t worry about the TOS as this modification will not be visible after template gets saved. (In-fact I’m doing this only)
9. Your Google Adsense Codes will have following lines!

               <script> type=’text/javascript’><!–
               …..
               //–>
               </script>

just replace highlighted < with &lt; and > with &gt;
If you have any doubt about this please read note at the end!
10. Its time to hit preview button! :-)
#Tips: Using Blend template for Adsense!
From day one, I have been using Blend template for Google Adsense. But in above hack you must use that! I feel so because your ads will appear in every post and end-user experience may degrade if your Colour scheme is annoying!
#Note: How modification to the Adsense code is not against its TOS?
First you can open your blog and cross-check its source code using browsers “view source” option to see Adsense Codes back to what you have got!
Now if you know about HTML then in HTML language, we just used HTML Character Entities.
What gets stored in blogger database is actual code!
So don’t worry be happy & rich ;-)

Earlier when Google launched the adsense program, blogspot was the best way to get an adsense account, but now because of huge demand of adsense , Google is not entertaining adsense account from blogspot domain easily. The most common response from adsense is Issue with page type . Though adsense approval process for blogspot is easy and feasible for many.
There is a simple trick which you can use to get your adsense account approved forblogspot domain quickly.

If your blogspot account have sufficient number of post (minimum 5+) then it’s easy to get your adsense account approved. If you have personal domain and host chances of adsense approval is very high.
Now the question is,

How you can get a free domain name?

There are many web services which provide you free domain names and that will be very handy for you to get your Google adsense account approved easily.
In this trick I will take an example of .co.cc domain.
# Register yourself by going to .co.cc domain registration page.
# Select your free domain name, I will suggest use the same domain name which you have on blogspot.
Suppose if you have domain name as virgintech.blogspot.com then search for the availability of virgintech.co.cc.
# Activate your account and login to your .co.cc account and click on Set up>> manage domain
Select Zone record and in the host column enter your .co.cc domain name :virgintech.co.cc
Now select CNAME for Type and enter ghs.google.com on the value field.
By now you have done setting up your co.cc domain and it’s time now to set up yourblogspot blog for the same.

How to redirect your blogspot blog to custom domain?

blogspot switching custom domain 300x48
Login to your blogspot account, under settings>publishing, selectSwitch to custom domain
Now enter your co.cc domain name in the field and click on save.
It will take one to two days to take settings in effect.
As soon as your blog is redirected .co.cc domain , apply for adsense again.
Some time Google adsense reject the application, the key word is resubmit your application.
Even I got my adsense account approved after almost 20 resubmission.
